A tractor for use on road or rails for manoeuvring rail vehicles or equipped as a crane or pallet truck comprises one pair of driving wheels 6 adapted for road/rail use by retractable rail guide wheels 12, steerable road wheels 27 extensible to raise a second pair of driving wheels 10 provided with flanges 8 during road use, and a turntable foot 56 extensible to raise the whole vehicle for rotation through 90 degrees during removal from the rails.
