The invention relates to the field of deicers for inhibiting atmospheric ice accumulation on aircraft structures. More particularly, the invention relates to the bonding of a deicer to an aircraft structure. According to an aspect of the invention, a device (10) for inhibiting atmospheric ice accumulation on an aircraft structure (12) is provided comprising a deicer (14), and a pressure sensitive adhesive layer (16) that defines a bonding surface that bonds the deicer (14) to the aircraft structure (12), and wherein the deicer (14) and aircraft surface are primed before application of the pressure sensitive adhesive layer (16). <IMAGE>
