Novel 2<SP>1</SP>-desoxyribosyl-uracil derivatives of general formula wherein R 1 represents hydrogen or an alkyl group of 1-3 carbon atoms and R 2 represents an alkyl group of 2-6 carbon atoms, are prepared by reacting a substituted uracil or a derivative thereof with an optionally protected desoxyribofuranosyl chloride and thereafter selectively removing the protective group to obtain the 2<SP>1</SP>-desoxyribosyl uracil derivative. In an Example I 5-propyl-3-(2<SP>1</SP>-desoxyribosyl)- uracil is prepared by treating mercury-5-propyluracid with di-p-chlorobenzoyl desoxyribofuranosyl chloride.</p> |
