<p>A smart card connector (2) comprises a single integrally moulded housing (4) and a plurality of terminals (6) stitched into corresponding cavities (8) of the housing in a vertical direction (V) through the PCB mounting face (30) thereof. The terminals (6) are retained to the housing at PCB connection sections (16) such that the length of the spring arm between the connection section and contact portion (14) is maximised. The elastic displacement range of the contact portion (14) is thus sufficient to pre-stress the contacts and receive cards of different thicknesses, for example single and double thickness smart cards, in a particularly cost-effective arrangement. <IMAGE></p> |
