PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a vehicle roof to be flexibly opened and closed and to be surely locked in case of an accident by immovably engaging each part of all fixing elements turned outward with a common coupling element capable of sliding along a guide path fixed to the roof or being to the guide path. SOLUTION: The vehicle roof is formed by connecting plural slats opening and closing a roof opening to each other by fixing elements 20 (20a-20d). Opposite holders or an operating element are fitted in a recess of a driving member, and a lock element formed as a lock oscillating arm 31 is journalled in the range of the front part of the rear part of the operating element. The rear part of the loci oscillating arm 31 is formed as an operating arm 33 which has a contact surface curved upward to match a contact. surface 25 of the rear part of the preceding operating element.. and is turned upward. An elevating lever 94 is pivoted on a coupling control member 90 driven through a driving cable, and the upper end of the elevating lever 94 is pivoted on the fixing member 20a of the terminal part.
