PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the picture quality and to coat at a high speed at the time of applying a coating liquid in a normally rotating roll coat system. SOLUTION: In the coating method of a normal rotational roll coat system for applying a coating liquid on the surface of a base material W by supplying the coating liquid from an applicator roll 3 to a coat roll 2 and running the base material W between the coat roll 2 and a press roll 1, the applicator roll 3 is reversely rotated to the coat roll 2. Thread-like drop or the like at the time of supplying the coating liquid is not generated, the smoothness of the coating liquid surface is remarkably improved and the picture quality of the coating liquid transferred on the based material is improved.
