The keys, switches and other functions of the musical keyboard (1) are represented by areas (4) on the computer screen. The computer is linked (5, 6, 7) to the keyboard to inject signals which are equivalent to the physical operation of the keyboard controls. The user select the function on the screen by pointing the beam from the light pen are the required area (4) and pressing the operating key on the pen. The computer also accepts inputs from an optional foot switch.
