PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the speed of an article transfer processing. SOLUTION: A pusher 2 which travels in the transfer direction at approximately same speed as that of an article is provided in a side of a transfer area 100 of the article 8, and this pusher 2 is so supported as to advance/retreat freely in the width direction of a conveyer 1 between a refuge position where the opposite end part to the article is outside the transfer area 100 and an advance position advanced to inside the transfer area 100. A cam member 4 provided in the upper pat of the pusher 2 is provided with a first cam groove 41 which is fitted with a projection 21 of the pusher 2 and holds the pusher 2 in the refuged position and second cam grooves 42a, 42b which are branched from the first cam groove, fitted with the projection 21, and advance the pusher 2 to the advance position. A switch which responds to a prescribed signal input so as to switch the transfer direction of the projection 21 at the branch part from the first cam groove 41 to the second cam grooves 42a, 42b is an air exhauster which sprays a compressed air for energizing the pusher 2 to the advance position side, to the pusher 2.
