PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make effectively extractable necessary aggregate only by using crushed material of refuse gathered from s coal mine as aggregate material, precipitating aggregate of a large specific gravity contained in the aggregate material to the lower side, and precipitating coal and other discarded material to the upper side. SOLUTION: When extracting aggregate from refuse gathered from a coal mine, first, lumps of the refuse are crushed by a crusher to sort them into coal sand and aggregate material. Next, the aggregate material is fed into a gravity sorting device 4 to extract an aggregate product of high quality from the aggregate material. The gravity sorting device 4 is provided with screen plates 10 each having a lot of through- holes 9 in a water tank 8, and a space above the screen plates 10 is made a separating chamber 11. And in the gravity sorting device 4, the aggregate material is sorted into up and down by difference in settling velocity in separating water until it reaches the downstream side, that is, it is separated and sorted into a mixture of the aggregate material, coal and the like which has a small specific gravity and is precipitated to the upper side and the aggregate of a large specific gravity precipitated on the lower side.
