PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a protective sheet inserted between strips from wrinkle generation and to cut the protective sheet when coiling of a metal strip is finished. SOLUTION: The sheet inserting/cutting device 5, moving in the direction crossing a line connecting a coiling reel 1 of a strip S and a sheet supply device 2 supplying a protective sheet H to a coiling reel 1, is provided with a guide roll 8, which is rotatively mounted to a pair of guide frames 7 turning around a rotary support shaft 6, and a cutting tool 14 which turns around the shaft of the guide roll 8, The protective sheet H is smoothed while applying tension by the guide roll 8. When coiling of the strip S is completed, the protective sheet H is cut by turning the cutting tool 14 toward the protective sheet H.
