PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten echo time and improve the S/N ratio of a magnetic resonance spectroscopic image. SOLUTION: This magnetic resonance imaging system is designed in such a manner that an inclined magnetic field Gr1 and a high-frequency magnetic field burst pulse RF1 are applied at a time to excite a subject, an inclined magnetic field Gs1 and a high-frequency magnetic field pulses RF2 are applied to the subject to invert the magnetic field, then an echo train signal Sig is detected using the inclined magnetic field Gr2 as a read-out inclined magnetic field, and based on this detected signal, a magnetic resonance spectroscopic image is recomposed. In order to add different chemical shift information to each echo signal of the echo train signal, the strength of the same axially inclined magnetic fields Gr1 and Gr2 which are applied at an excitation time and readout time are made different values to shorten an echo time TE, and by measuring signals before the strength of the echo signal which is attenuated by a traverse relaxation the S/N ratio is improved.
