Apparatus for forming multiple images of a master image comprises a hologram 25 of an array of point sources, a hologram 16 of a master image, at least one of the two holograms being a Fourier transform hologram, said one hologram, e.g. hologram 25, being located in one focal plane of a Fourier transform lens 35, a recording medium 36 being located in the other focal plane of lens 35, the other hologram 16 being located so as to be illuminated by a source of monochromatic light 31 and being positioned with respect to hologram 25 that multiple images of the master image are formed. Preferably both holograms are Fourier transform holograms, hologram 16 of the master image and hologram 25 of the array of point sources. In an alternative embodiment an ordinary hologram of a master image is located in a focal plane of a further lens and forms its transform in the transform plane of the lens superimposed upon a Fourier transform hologram of an array of point sources. The transform hologram and recording medium are again located in the respective focal planes of the first lens. The image may be an integrated circuit and the multiple images recorded on a semi-conductor slice. |
