PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing sulfate ions in an aq. soln. of an alkali metal chloride with a small-sized low-cost equipment without requiring a special filtration apparatus for solid-liquid separation and special maintenance work in the method for removing the sulfate ions in the aq. soln. of the alkali metal chloride using a zirconium hydroxide adsorbent. SOLUTION: In a method for adsorbing and removing sulfate ions in an aq. soln. of an alkali metal chloride by using zirconium hydroxide, by using a zirconium hydroxide adsorbent having 0.1-3 mm grain diameter obtd. by bonding and granulating it with PVA or its deriv., the deterioration of the adsorbent due to being finery pulverized is not caused, a special filtration apparatus for solid-liquid separation and special maintenance work are not necessary and a low-cost equipment is provided. |
