PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove scale in the weld zone of stainless steel up to a brightness imparting no sense of incompatibility with that of a base material. SOLUTION: By using an aq. soln. contg. a salt of phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid, oxalic acid or the like, descaling is executed using AC. For descaling the discolored parts (scale) in the weld zone and the periphery thereof to have brightness similar to that of a base material or imparting no sense of incompatibility with that, an electrolytic soln. capable of removing scale only and not dissolving the base material is required. For this purpose, in a neutral or near neutral aq. soln. contg. alkali or ammonium salt of such as phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid and oxalic acid (pH 4 to 12), electrolysis is executed.
