PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a reduction gear case containing a friction brake for a vehicle. SOLUTION: The center O1 of a differential case 18 and a wet multi-disc type friction brake 6 for braking it are arranged on the same side with respect to a reduction gear wheel 16. The outer peripheral space of the differential case 18 is therefore used effectively to arrange friction plates 40, 41 for a brake and to miniaturize the lateral width of a reduction gear case 14. The reduction gear case 14 is formed in trisected structure of a center part and lateral parts, and an inward brake support wall 23b is formed at a center case member 23 and used as the pressure receiving surface of the friction plates 40, 41. The reduction gear wheel 16 can therefore be built in while suppressing the diameter of the friction brake 6 small, that is the friction brake 6 smaller in diameter than the reduction gear wheel 16 can be built in to maintain radial miniaturization.
