PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine which can prevent leakage of scavenging gas into a crankshaft housing without a conventional closing tool. SOLUTION: A large-sized two-cycle engine has a cylinder liner 21 in which a piston 20 is moved. The engine has a slider 24 in contact with a lower end of the cylinder liner 21, and forming a slide valve together with the cylinder liner 21. The slider 24 is longitudinally moved in respect to the cylinder liner 21 by means of a driving device independent on the piston 20. When the slider 24 is separated from the cylinder liner 21, a circular opening 210 is formed between the cylinder liner 21 and the slider 24. The scavenging gas is supplied into a cylinder space 22 through the circular opening 210. With such a setup, a closing means for an engine space can be avoided. It is thus possible to obtain an engine of a small-sized structure. |
