PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a calender roll capable of controlling the variation of a caliper caused by a lubricating oil as much as possible. SOLUTION: This calender roll is a crown control roll which is equipped with a rotary cell 1 having an interpolated stationary center shaft 2. The center shat 2 is furnished with shoes 8 and 11 to be into slide contact with the inner wall surface of the rotary cell 1. A lubricating oil for lubricating the slide contact surface of the shoes 8 and 10 is spread along the whole length of the center shaft 2 and is supplied from an oil shower pipe 11 provided with a great number of small holes 12 for jetting the lubricating oil formed along the whole length.
