PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a polyester conjugated fiber maintaining enough strength to endure a gigging processing, presenting, in addition, easily breaking characteristics and excellent in gigging processability by bringing a specific core-sheath type conjugate fiber polyester to treat at a high pressure, moisture and temperature. SOLUTION: This polyester conjugate fiber having <=1.75 cN/d text breaking tenacity, <20.0% breaking elongation is produced by treating a core and sheath type polyester conjugate fiber in which a modified polyester, which comprises ethylene terephthalate as a main repeating unit copolymerized with >=10 mole % of adipic acid based on the whole acid component and 0.5-2% of a phosphorous compound such as trimethylphosphate, etc., expressed by the formula (R1 to R3 are each H or a 1-6C alkyl) based on the whole acid component, is arranged as the core part and a modified polyester, which comprises ethylene terephthalate as a main repeating unit copolymerized with <0.5% of a phosphorous compound, is arranged as the sheath part, at a high pressure, moisture and temperature of >120 deg.C. The core part does not expose on the fiber surface and the conjugation of the core part is >=60%.
