PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compsn. which has high functional properties, such as excellent mechanical properties, by compounding a polymer, a polymer additive which is liq. at a specified temp., and a polyvalent metal salt of an org. acid. SOLUTION: This compsn. contains 100 pts.wt. polymer such as a thermoplastic or thermosetting resin or a thermoplastic elastomer, 1-250 pts.wt. polymer additive which is liq. at 100 deg.C, 0.01-100 pts.wt. polyvalent metal salt of an org. acid, and 0.001-100 pts.wt. higher monocarboxylic acid (e.g. stearic acid). The additive may be a plasticizer (e.g. a process oil or dimethyl phthalate), a heat stabilizer (e.g. a metal soap), a flame retardant (e.g. an org. phosphoric ester monomer or condensate), a lubricant (e.g. liq. paraffin), a light stabilizer, an ultraviolet absorber, a hindered amine light stabilizer, or the like, Examples of the metal salt are polyvalent metal salts of 2-ethylhexanoic, lauric, and myristic acids, Al 2-ethylhexanoate being pref.
