PRODUCTION OF PROTEIN PREPARATION HAVING DECREASED COAGULATE CONTENT AND USE OF THE PREPARATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a protein preparation having improved safety, compatibility and biological activity of protein by separating and removing a coagulum existing in the protein preparation before or after thermal treatment. SOLUTION: The content of coagulum in a protein preparation is decreased by separating the coagulum, denaturated protein and/or contaminant existing in the protein preparation before and/or after thermal treatment. The protein preparation is preferably a plasma protein preparation such as a preparation of a plasma protein selected from plasma protein fractions containing proteins such as plasminogen, albumin, factor VIII, immunoglobulin and (apo)lipoprotein. The thermal treatment is preferably carried out by heating the protein preparation at >=55 deg.C for >=5 hr to sufficiently remove the infectious contaminants. The separation process preferably contains a precipitation process, a gel- filtration process, a microfiltration process, or the like.
