PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a conical planting hole to which a tobacco seedling is transplanted. SOLUTION: This planting apparatus for a transplanter is vertically movably equipped with a cap-shaped planting body 29 having an openable and closable boring part 38 in a downward tapered state. The planting body 29 is dropped in a closed state of the boring part 38 and the boring part 38 is driven into a field R to form a planting hole 43. After driving the planting body into the field, the boring part 38 is opened and a seedling P stored in the planting body 29 is planted in the planting hole 29. The boring part 38 of the cup-shaped planting body 43 is provided with a small-sized boring part 44 forming the bottom of the planting hole 43 at the lower side of the boron boring part and with a hole widening boring part 45 for enlarging the hole diameter of the planting hole 43 at the top of the small-sized boring hole 44.
