PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably damp vibration by forming a damping element according to a transmission characteristic of a rotary body from a detecting signal of a vibration detecting means for detecting absolute vibration of a yoke, and controlling magnetic force generated by an electromagnet so as to restrain vibration generated in the yoke on the basis of the damping element. SOLUTION: When applied to a rotating machine with an overhang roller, a vibration restrainer 20 is constituted by having a secondary yoke 21, and a shaft 12 is penetrated into the secondary yoke 21. The secondary yoke 21 is provided with an acceleration sensor 24Y for detecting X directional/Y directional acceleration generated in the secondary yoke 21 by vibration of the shaft 12 transmitted through a ball bearing B1. An acceleration detecting signal of the acceleration sensor 24Y is supplied to a controller to be converted into a speed here, and the secondary yoke 21 is driven through a power amplifier and a coil to perform sky hook damper control by absolute speed feedback control of the shaft 12.
