PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for performing better soil improvement work without increasing an expansion limit of a hollow body arranged underground or the maximum amplitude of a vibrating body. SOLUTION: In the soil improvement work, a hollow body 14 is arranged underground permitting expansion and shrinkage by the supply and discharge of a high pressure fluid, then the hollow body 14 is suddenly expanded and shrunk and a process of supplying sediment or a large amount of granular materials between the hollow body and its surrounding ground 38 after sudden expansion and shrinkage of the hollow body and during the shrinkage or after the shrinkage of the hollow body is repeated. Then, if a vibrating body is used, the vibrating body is arranged underground and sediment and a number of granular substances are supplied between the vibrating body and its surrounding ground.
