PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a canvas for painting which is light-weight and has a high strength at a low cost, and at the same time, efficiently perform a painting by a method wherein a painting cloth is stuck to one surface of a honeycomb plate, and the peripheral edge part of the painting cloth is bent to the rear surface of the honeycomb plate, and attached with a glue. SOLUTION: In the case of a small-sized painting canvas, on the front surface side of a honeycomb plate 3 having a honeycomb structure 1 which is formed of various kinds of functional papers 2, a painting cloth 4 is extended, and then, the peripheral edge part of the painting cloth is bent and attached with a glue to the rear surface of the honeycomb plate 3, and a required painting canvas is obtained. Then, in a case of a large-sized painting canvas, on the periphery of the honeycomb structure 1, a honeycomb structure of a higher height is arranged, and various kinds of functional papers 2 are attached, and thus, a honeycomb rib canvas is constituted, and a painting cloth is lined, and the end part of the painting cloth is bent to the rear surface and attached with a glue. By such a canvas, a scraping off work or the like by a pallet knife can be comfortably performed because moving of the canvas can be suppressed.
