PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To treat a powder to as to ensure a reduced transport cost by to increasing the loadage at the time of transport, downsized storage equipment by reducing the storage space, improved reactivity by increasing the surface area and improved flowability. SOLUTION: A powder having a low apparent specific gravity is subjected to comminution and compacting/granulation with a single apparatus to increase the apparent specific gravity and BET specific surface area of the powder comparing with that of the powder before the treatment. The powder is preferably treated so as to satisfyρ1<=0.5 g/cm3 and 20<=[(ρ2-ρ1/ρ1]×100 (ρ1 andρ2 are the loosening apparent specific gravities of the powder before and after the treatment, respectively) with respect to the loosening apparent specific gravity of the powder and S1<=55 m2/g and 5<=[(S2-S1)/S1×100 (S1 and S2 are the BET specified surface areas of the powder before and after the treatment, respectively) with respect to the BET specified surface area of the powder.
