PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate any chain for interconnecting both driving mechanisms and reduce vibration and noise caused by sag of a chain, in a driving device of a manconveyer having an endless-shaped step and a handrail, by providing each driving source for independently driving each driving means for the step and the handrail. SOLUTION: A step is driven by a driving force transmitted to a driving sprocket 12 through a driving chain 13 engaged with an output shaft 11a of a motor 11. A handrail 4 is driven by a driving force transmitted to a driving sprocket 44 fixed coaxially with a handrail driving wheel 45, of the handrail driving wheel 45 and a handrail driven wheel 46 grabbing the both surfaces of the handrail, through a handrail driving chain 43 engaged with an output shaft 401a of a handrail driving motor 401. The step 2 and the handrail 4 are independently driven by separate power sources. Respective speeds detected by a step speed detector 51 and a handrail speed detector 52 are compared, and according to the compared result rotation speed of the motor 401 is controlled.
