Aircraft flight data acquisition and transmission system

Data recorded by the flight recorder are transmitted over a cellular telephone system to a flight operations center once the aircraft has landed. The cellular telephone system may use the Internet. The flight data may be compressed or encrypted and transmission may be initiated by a weight on wheels signal from the aircraft undercarriage. The data may be sent in packets with automatic sending so long as any data threads remain active. INDEPENDENT CLAMS are included for (a) a method of transmitting flight data (b) and a computer readable medium carrying instructions causing a computer to transmit flight data via a cellular network.
