The invention relates to a method for preparing a liquid additive on the basis of water-soluble welan gum powder, according to which water-soluble welan gum in dry-powder form is dispersed in an aqueous solution of dissociable salts present at high concentrations, notably in a lyotropic salt solution. The resulting liquid additive can be used to improve the processability and rheological properties of binding agent suspensions.
