PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new cross-linked zirconocene compound containing a bisindenyl ligand cross-linked with a specific bifunctional group, capable of exhibiting excellent catalytic activity for polymerization of olefins, useful as a polymerization catalytic component for olefins. SOLUTION: This compound is shown by formula I [R1 to R4 are each H, a (Si- or Ge-containing) (unsaturated) 1-20C alkyl (R'), a 3-20C cycloalkyl (R''), a 6-20C aryl (R''') or the like; R5 and R6 are each R', R'' or R''' or the like; (m) is 0-2; (n) is 0-4; X is H, a halogen, a group of the formula R (R is R', R'' or R'''), a group of the formula OR or the like] such as 1,2-ethylene-bis(2- indenyl)zirconium dichloride. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting a ligand of formula II (R1 to R4 are each H and when (n) is 0, (m) is not 0 or the like) with a compound capable of forming a delocalized anion on a cyclopentadienyl ring and then reacting the reaction product with a compound of the formula ZrZ4 (Z is a halogen).
