PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly recognize map information near a route by writing and displaying a road guide map, including building names from building shape map data, retrieving buildings along the route and changing the display mode of the building names. SOLUTION: Relative to a map display a having no guide route, a guide route in a map display b, including searched guide routes, is indicated bolder than other roads with a changed color tone. The names of facilities in a site adjacent the guide route are indicated with letters of e.g. Seikyo, Einan, Nisshin Stn., etc., offset to right or left to avoid masking the guide route. A central processing unit reads the building shape map data from an information memory, detects the site shape of the facilities from coordinate data thereof, judges whether the site contacts the guide route, and if contacting, offsets the indication letters of the facilities name to right or left with indication of the letters Seikyo, Einan, Nisshin Stn., etc., enhanced with bold lines, thus quickly acquiring the map information near the guide route. |
