PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cooker, e.g. a microwave oven, in which power consumption is reduced by arranging kitchen timer mode to make a transition automatically to power save mode upon expiration of a kitchen timer even the operation of a cancel key is missed. SOLUTION: When the door of a cooker is closed, a kitchen timer key 32 is depressed and a time is set by operating time keys, the set time is indicated on an indicator 25. When a start key 34 is depressed, the kitchen timer starts down counting and when the set time elapses, a buzzer 38 sound and 0 is indicated on the indicator 25, for example. When an end timer 39 starts down counting and a predetermined time elapses, a kitchen timer lamp is unlighted and a transition is made to power save mode. More specifically, the conduction of a power supply holding relay is interrupted to open the relay contact thereof and the conduction of a control circuit, and the like, is interrupted thus reducing power consumption.
