PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit that applies optimum compression to original image data obtained by a scanner on a network depending on an original type and to provide an image processing system and its method. SOLUTION: A scanner 1000 applies preliminary scanning to an original image, a server 200 identifies an original image type based on a preliminary scanned image, a client 400 sets a main scanning parameter based on the preliminary scanned image, and the scanner 1000 applies main scanning to the original image based on the main scanning parameter, and the server 200 compresses the main scanning image depending on the original image type and the server 200 transfers the compressed image to the client 400.
