PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a photographic developing compsn. contg. a relatively inexpensive, odorless and consistently effective antioxidant for a color developing soln. compsn. by incorporating a photographic developing agent and a cyclohexanedione having a specified structure as an antioxidant. SOLUTION: The photographic developing compsn. contains a photographic developing agent and at least 0.001 mol/l 1,4-cyclohexanedione of the formula, wherein (m), (n), (p) and (q) are each 0 or 1, L1-L4 are each a divalent bonding group and R1-R4 are each H, an alkyl, an aryl, sulfo, carboxy, phospho, phosphono, phosphino, amino, cyano, hydroxy, a cycloalkyl or a heterocycle. The compsn. has no undesirable sensitometry performance, is odorless or emits a slight odor and gives many important advantages including desirable performance because the 1,4-cyclohexanedione is used as an antioxidant.
