PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the generation of communication standby time other than the initialization of the output level of radio signals and to perform data communication at an absolute minimum output level by making an output level setting part return to the absolute minimum output level for not generating a communication error and perform the initialization when an error detection part detects the communication error based on response signals from peripheral equipment. SOLUTION: In the setting processing of the output level of the data communication of this data communication equipment 1 and a docking station 21, when the output level setting part 2b initializes the output level and stores it in an output level storage part 15a, a control part 2a controls infrared ray communication controller/modules 7 and 8 so as to transmit response request signals for which the output level is gradually reduced from the maximum to the peripheral equipment. When the error detection part 2c detects the communication error based on the response signals from the peripheral equipment, the output level setting part 2b returns to the absolute minimum output level for not generating the communication error and performs the initialization.
