PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize the antireflection effect of a liquid crystal element having a simple film structure by forming films in such a manner that the wavelength at which the spectral reflectance of the antireflection film becomes min. and the wavelength with min. spectral reflectance of a transparent electrode satisfy specified relation. SOLUTION: A first substrate (active matrix substrate) 102 having plural pixel electrodes and a transparent second substrate (glass substrate) 101 having a transparent electrode 107 on a first face are disposed almost parallel to each other with the electrodes facing each other, and a liquid crystal material (polymer dispersion liquid crystal consisting of a liquid crystal 105 and a polymer 104) is injected into the region surrounded by the substrates 101, 102 and a spacer 103. An antireflection film 106 consisting of plural films is formed on a second face of the second substrate 101 opposite to the transparent electrode 107. The wavelength λAR at which the spectral reflectance of the antireflection film 106 becomes min., and the wavelength λT with the min. spectral reflectance of the transparent electrode 107 satisfy the relation of λAR>λT or λAR>λT+7 (nm). |
