PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change over the forward speed range of a synchromesh gear transmission while keeping the driver free from operating the gearshift lever and from uncomfortable feedings resulting from temporarily dulled acceleration at the forward speed range change. SOLUTION: A forward speed range selection means selects one among a plurality of forward speed ranges while the gearshift lever is set in a forward mode where a range selection from among the forward speed ranges requires no gearshift lever operations. The forward speed range selection means selects the lowest forward speed range if the vehicle speed that a vehicle speed detection means detects is below a preset speed, and selects one among the forward speed ranges on the basis of the transition of the accelerator pedal travel that an accelerator pedal travel detection means detects if the vehicle speed is not less than the preset speed.
|
