PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera where reproduction waiting time can be shortened and a reproduced image can speedily be recognized. SOLUTION: In an electronic still camera 10, image data which is picked up by an image pickup element 33 is recorded in FD (a jacket casing including a magnetic sheet (floppy disk) as a magnetic recording medium) 17 and image data is recorded in an IC card 18 so that reading display is relatively easier than image data recorded in FD 17. When a photographed image is to be recognized, image data recorded in the IC card 18 is read and it is displayed on a liquid crystal display panel 16.
