PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reuse the print data in a wide range of application by transferring the data to a host computer which sent the print data or a data base system, etc. SOLUTION: This device comprises a print control part 103 including a buffer 106 which temporarily stores the data received from a host computer 101a and a control part 105 which controls the input/output of data to the buffer 106, a channel 107 which secures the bidirectional communication connection between the computer 101a and the part 103 and performs the communication, based on a prescribed communication protocol, and a printer engine 104 which forms the images on the recording paper based on the data supplied from the part 103. Then the part 105 returns the print data which are formed into the images to the computer 101a.
