PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve high efficiency of electromagnetic drive by directly supply a current to two coils, and to lessen a capacitance required for a power supply for opening an electrode or for a power supply for closing an electrode. SOLUTION: This switching device is equipped with a switch comprised of a fixed electrode which can be freely connected and detached and a movable electrode, a moving coil 10 fixed to a moving shaft linked with the movable electrode, fixed coils 3a, 3b disposed opposite to the moving coil 10, a power supply to send an exciting current to these coils 3a, 3b, and an energizing direction setting means 12a, 12b, 13a, 13b to set a current-carrying direction of the exciting current to each coil 3a, 3b from the power supply so as to generate an electromagnetic interaction between each coil 3a, 3b.
