PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to input while switching between uppercase and lowercase English letters through easy operation without pressing any special extra key by detecting a predetermined specified time passed of the pressing operation of one alphabet key and switching the input between the uppercase and lowercase English letters. SOLUTION: This alphabet input method which inputs alphabet information through key operation detects a predetermined specified time passed of the depressing operation of one alphabet key and switches the input operation between the uppercase and lowercase alphabet letters. For example, an infrared- ray emission part 10 is provided on the main-side surface of a remote control 100 and alphabet keys corresponding to A to Z are arranged on its main surface. Further, a delete key and a space key are arranged. Here, an uppercase/ lowercase letter switching key for switching between uppercase letter input and lowercase letter input is not provided.
