PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device by which a bright display can be obtained even if viewed in dark surroundings and no display shift due to parallax is observed. SOLUTION: On an insulating substrate 10, an active layer 14 equipped with gate electrodes 11, gate insulating films 12, sources 14s and drains 14d, an interlayer insulating film 15 and an flattening insulating film 17 are successively laminated. Display electrodes 18 connected with sources 14s are provided on the flattening insulating film 17. The display electrodes 18 comprise translucent films. A display is provided by reflecting an ambient light 40 from the outside in bright surroundings and is provided with a light from a turned on rear side light source 41 transmitted through the display electrodes 18 in dark surroundings. A liquid crystal with a driving mode which does not require any polarizing plate is used as a liquid crystal material 30. |
