PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smooth the switching motion of a valve by suppressing the abrasion and friction of the valve and an arm. SOLUTION: A toroidal continuously variable transmission is so constructed that turning motion of an arm 100 of a forward/reverse travel detection means 90 displaces a valve 82 of a controller switching means 80 axially for switching motion. That portion of the arm 100 which contacts against the valve 82 of the controller switching means 80 is formed into a prescribed curved shape whose curved surface 102 has such a geometric centroid as overlaps the perpendicular produced perpendicularly from the axis of support of the arm 100 to the axis of the valve 82, in the valve stroke. |
