摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce time required for taking measurements at the time of measuring the frequency characteristics of a plurality of the same types of measured optical fibers without damaging the fibers, regarding the measurements of the frequency characteristic of an optical fiber. SOLUTION: An outgoing beam from a light source 2 after modulation with a high-frequency signal on the operation of a signal generator 1 is made incident on one edge of a measured plastic optical fiber 9 via an exciting optical system 3, and an output signal from a photo detector 5 for receiving an outgoing beam from the other edge is detected with a spectrum analyzer 6 synchronous with the signal generator 1 via a signal line 7. This measurement system is first used for measuring a calibration plastic optical fiber 8 of the same type as the measured optical fiber 9 and length equal to or less than 5 m, thereby finding a calibration frequency characteristic. Then, the optical fiber 8 is detached from the measurement system. The frequency characteristic of the measured optical fiber 9 measured by use of the measurement system is calibrated with the calibration frequency characteristic, thereby providing a calibrated frequency characteristic.
