<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate a track ball and a foot button by means of only a single foot. SOLUTION: This input device comprises a track ball 46 which is operated by means of the sole of a foot and an input, mode switching foot button 48 which is placed near the ball 46. An X/Y axis detecting means is added to the input device to detect both revolving direction and speed of the ball 46. The button 48 is also operated by means of the sole of a foot. Thus, a pointer shown on a monitor can be moved, clicked and dragged via the operations of only the sole of a foot and with no use of hands. In order to facilitate the foot operations, the clicking or dragging operation is selected according to the pushing degrees of the button 48 when a single button 48 is used or the ball 46 and the button 48 are placed close to each other.</p> |
