PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the input/output transactions, to reduce the disk rental and to improve the performance in a print management system. SOLUTION: The permanent attributes are stored in an object data base system 120 and the non-permanent attributes are stored in a virtual memory 330. If a getting or setting request is given from a server 110 for a non- permanent attribute such as a reset or calculated attribute, the system 120 calls out a call-back function to get or set an attribute and carries out an I/O function if the got or set attribute is permanent.
