<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ATM repeater of a low price and high performance for accelerating hop-by-hop transfer and improving the efficiency. SOLUTION: This ATM repeater provided with a hop-by-hop transfer mode for performing the routing processing of packets in a network layer is provided with an input stage ATM switch 13 for switching the route of data based on the destination information of ATM cells inputted through an input port, an output stage ATM switch 16 for sending out the ATM cells to a target output line and an IP processing part 100 provided between the input stage ATM switch 13 and the output stage ATM switch 16 for receiving the ATM cells from the input stage ATM switch 13, generating an IP packet by assembling the ATM cells, analyzing the header, performing an IP processing, disassembling the IP packets into the ATM cells and supplying them to the output stage ATM switch 16.</p> |
