PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbonaceous material which has higher density and a higher capacity than the carbonaceous, and has a flat discharge electric potential, and further is superior in a cycle characteristic in the case of using it as a negative electrode material for a lithium ion secondary battery, and provide a lithium ion secondary battery which is superior in a characteristic with the use of this material. SOLUTION: This is a lithium ion secondary battery negative electrode material which is composed of graphitization powder obtained by adding a carbonaceous material that is composed of pitch, resin or heat treated material thereof to an aluminum compound, and applying thereto carbonization/graphitization treatment. The graphitization powder has respective values: d<=0.377 nm, Lc>=30 nm, La>=30 nm which are crystal ization data according to a X-ray diffraction. |
