PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simulatively experience the tactile feeling to the lie of hair on the surface of an object. SOLUTION: Hair texture T composed of a large number of hair vectors H is defined and mapped on the surface of a virtual object. An operating point P is defined on an operating part fixed on the finger of an operator so as to be moved in any arbitrary direction, and a moving vector Ms on the hair texture T at this operating point P is recognized. Corresponding to an angleθ(0<=θ<=π) formed by the motion vector Ms and hair vector H, a function R(θ) is set which is '0' at the time ofθ=0 and is increased with the increase inθ. A hair stress vector to be directed oppositely to the motion vector Ms and having a level the same as the function value R(θ) is defined and by applying a force corresponding to this hair stress vector to the operating point P, a stress corresponding to the lie of hair is applied to the finger of the operator.
