PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video signal processor that uses a signal processing unit of one system to apply spatial signal processing to a point progressive composite video signal called as 4:2:0p. SOLUTION: The video signal processing unit is provided with a format converter 1 (102) that converts a point progressive composite input video signal called as 4:2:0p into a line progressive composite video signal that is made composite by collecting luminance components and color difference signal components for each line in the unit of scanning lines, a signal processing unit 103 that applies video signal processing to the line progressive composite video signal and a format converter 2 (104) that converts the line progressive composite video signal obtained through the video signal processing into an output signal being the point progressive composite input video signal.
