PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the external magnetic fields that permeate through the neck part of a CRT by means of a shielding member, in order to suppress the fine movements of images which are projected on a fluorescent screen by placing the shielding member having high magnetic permeability and low coersive force at the CRT neck part which is orthogonal to the CRT axis and with the center of the shielding member set almost coincident with the CRT axis. SOLUTION: A plate type shielding member 4 is placed orthogonally to the axis of a CRT 1 at the neck part 2 of the CRT 1. A material such as a Permalloy (registered trademark) having high magnetic permeability and low coersive force is used to the member 4. Then the member 4 is placed at the side of a deflecting yoke 3 of a purity magnet 5, at the side of a CRT socket 7 of the magnet 5 or at both sides of the magnet 5 and decreases the external magnetic fields. Meanwhile, an attachment hole is drilled almost at the center of the member 4 for improving the attachment stability and to better suppress the external magnetic fields. Thus, it to suppress fine movements of displayed images can be suppressed, and also the size and cost of a CRT display device can be reduced.
